Here you can see the rough nature of the ordinary soldiers clothes. The front soldier is wearing a jacket typical of Montagu's regiment, red with a white lining. He is wearing gauntlet gloves to give some protection to his hands and a helmet which he had pillaged from a dead body after a previous battle. He was issued with body armour, (back and breast), but left it somewhere on a long, hot, march.
